*Sold*Antique Platinum Diamond Drop Necklace

This Platinum and Diamond Negligee Pendant Drop Necklace is circa 1901-1920, hailing from the Edwardian to early Art Deco period. Beautifully supple and flexible, each component is hinged which results in it lovingly curving to fit flush against the wearer. The sparkling hand cut diamonds are Old European Cut and all feature open culets, all are eye clean I-VS clarity, and bright white in the H/I near colorless or better range. From the top of the pendant they increase in size to end in two diamond drops of approximately .20 carats each. We estimate carat weight to be 1.25 ctw as measured while mounted. The pendant weighs 4.28g alone. The diamonds are bead, prong and bezel set and hand applied milgrain adorns the edges of the box settings. Included is a delicate modern vintage 14k white gold chain to make a complete ready to wear necklace.Video is available for immediate viewing on my Instagram page Vanessaatheritagejewelry.

A negligee is a special kind of necklace identified by the length of the elements at the end of it. The necklace itself typically sits below the collar bone, and will have items such as tassels drops, or multiple gemstones hanging below the termination. Negligee-style necklaces have been around for a number of years but were most popular in the early 20th century, during the Edwardian period. The tassels of a negligee are generally uneven in length but may be symmetrical in what they contain, whether it is gemstones, additional elements of the necklace, or other ornamentation.
