This is a true vintage platinum setting of 10% iridium/platinum combination from the 40's-50's. It held a 7.6mm stone with no problem and could probably hold something a little larger or smaller. The side stones were estimated on appraisal at .25ctw G-H SI diamonds. It is currently a size US 6 and easily sizeable.
There is one small mark from unsetting the stone on one prong and that can easily be polished by your jeweler when you have it set. If you want or need more pictures of what it looks like set, see the link below for my old thread on it.
